A company is only as strong as the people doing the work
I'm an engineering leader with 19 years in software. I started hands-on as an engineer and architect, bootstrapped products in startups, and later worked at director and senior director scope. That work covered delivery portfolios, platform direction, and the AI systems the company actually ran on.
I believe a company is only as strong as the people doing the work. For me that means cascading mentoring so growth isn't trapped with one manager. It means delivery standards teams can follow without depending on heroics.
And it means distributing tooling that gets capability into more people's hands.
Most recently I was Senior Director of Engineering in the Office of the CTO at Ad Hoc, a digital services company serving multiple US governmental agencies. Before that I was principal architect and engineering manager on the VA Health & Benefits mobile app. Earlier in my career I led Android and full-stack work at Code Inversion, was a founding engineer on Hydra (the drone racing platform that became LeagueOS, where I still advise), and worked inside federal IT and small-business programs at the VA and SBA.
I'm based in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. I'm looking for Director / Senior Director roles, and engineering roles focused on AI: shipping AI products, or helping organizations roll AI tools out to their people.
